Title of Liberty - Captain Moroni - Book of Mormon Illustration
The Book of Mormon is one of my favorite books. This is an illustration from a key moment in the stories it tells, when a certain Captain Moroni delivers a speech to his soldiers, before making a stand against evil. The story--and the person behind it--has had a large impact on my life.

Detail. I like to imagine Captain Moroni as having just ascended a raised platform, taking a brief moment to reflect on his standard before delivering his speech.

I wanted each corner of the canvas to contain hints at many different stories...
...With multiple individual warriors rallying to the cause of freedom, and taking a stand for what is worth fighting for.
Captain Moroni is one of my favorite people to read about in the Book of Mormon, and his example plays a key component to my faith.
"And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole."
